Meet Maya!

Maya was struggling in her first year of school. She was failing everything and at five years old started believing lies that she just didn't have a good memory and that she wasn't smart.

Then, everything changed....

Watch her story below!

Maya is a true success

Jesus said,  “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”  Matthew 19:13-14

Testimonial by Parent Dana A.

"The education of our future generation is a vital part of our community. This is a chance to be a part of the change and sow into the lives of children who will one day be leading our cities. We always talk about how the world seems to be falling apart around us. And how the kids seem to be entering into terrible things at a younger and younger age. This is the chance to make a difference, a chance to sow light and life before the world grabs ahold of them. Two of the biggest spheres of influence for these young children's lives are their education and their home life. This ministry has the potential to have a ripple effect and touch many lives. So many parents want better for their kids but finances stand in the way of helping them to further their children's education. These elementary years are so important. What they learn now can either make them or break them. And we have a chance to plant seeds of righteousness into their lives that will flourish and bloom well into their adulthood."  - Dana A. (Parent)

Pastor Edward Barthell says...

Pastor, Edward Barthell says that he has been mentoring and sowing into many of the youth for nearly a decade and that's what has made the difference in their lives. They are now on the honor roll in their final years of high school, playing football and singing in the St Stephens AME youth choir.

"The education of our future generation is a vital part of our community. This is a chance to be a part of the change and sow into the lives of children who will one day be leading our city."

Dana A., mother to elementary-aged son

Pastor Barthell says he believes that mentoring can mean all the difference in the world to students.

Why tutoring?

  • There are 300 churches in Bradenton and only 53 neighborhoods.

  • Manatee County is in the bottom 20% of the state for student academic performance.

  • Only 49-51% of 3rd graders pass their reading test in Manatee County over the past several years. This statistic directly impacts addiction, crime, homelessness, etc.

  • Bradenton is 16 on the crime index where 100 is the safest.

  • Some areas have up to 40% of kids dropping out of school.

  • A Sunday morning church service is only 1% of the week.

We can make a difference!
